They are the most important salt mines of Mallorca, for their large surface and production, whose origins go back to the 4th century BC, when they were used by the Punics and afterwards by the Romans. The strangest elements that you can easily notice on the beach are the defense fortifications dating back to the Forties, that were meant to defend the island of allied troops invasion; an almost intact glimpse of the past still standing in the white mallorcan sand.
